I am an illustrator and storyteller who chooses to produce depictions in text and images that include themes of masculine men in peril. My depictions of masculine vulnerable men in peril have a high level of dramatic tension and energy. To me, depicting love expressed between one man and another man in images or stories is not sufficiently dramatic in the storytelling sense. In contrast, stories about breaking up or suffering the loss of a love contain far more dramatic energy for the audience. The man-meets-man-and-falls-in-love-and-then-they-live-happily-ever-after story is not for me as a steady diet. Such storytelling (in text or visual form) emphasizes the powerful but false belief that life turns out happily and positive for everyone.

Nothing inspires me like fantasy, be it dragons or vampires, faeries or demons. I’m fascinated by human interaction, probably because I’m so bad at it, and few things in life bring out the raw intensity of human emotion like love and sex. Even when writing about faeries or demons or fantasy cultures, the needs are universal. Love is love, no matter what planet you’re on. Love is not the domain of the rich, or the powerful, or the beautiful. It belongs to everyone and that’s why I enjoy writing erotica. 	Author bio: Blaine is a purple haired, forty-something, writer of gay fiction with a love of men, music, mystery, magic, fairies (the pointy eared ones), platform shoes and the colours black, purple and red, who sings her way through life. Born and raised in Zutphen, the Netherlands, Blaine spent many hours of her sheltered youth reading, day dreaming, making up stories and acting them out with her barbies. Though she wrote her first gay fiction as a teenager, Blaine's true inspiration comes from the wonderful gay romance called 'Beautiful Thing' — adaptation of the play by Jonathan Harvey — through which she gained some very dear gay friends and a postponed bout of puberty that caused an introverted and shy Blaine to finally grow into herself. Supporting Blaine in all matters regarding household, teenagers, cairn terrier Kendra and pursuing her dreams, is her long-suffering husband for over twenty years. When not writing, reading or at choir practice, Blaine has singing lessons and hopes to be in a band someday.

	Author bio: Steven Kerry is a musician and songwriter from Los Angeles who has had several of his songs published and recorded, and both sang and co-produced his own album of original material on LML Music under the group name Stain’d Glass. His writing has been published in Frontiers Newsmagazine and other publications. His extensive experience as a hospital social worker has proven a natural source of inspiration for the My Strange Little Oasis trilogy and future novels. Steven describes his writing style as “inspired by cinema,” as he prefers listening to movie soundtrack music while writing at night “the old fashioned way,” with nothing more than a pen, paper, and sufficient caffeine.
