Layover | by CJ Black Nov. 27, 2011 | 1546 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I'm a multi-published author of erotic fiction novels and short stories, usually M/M, in the contemporary, fantasy and paranormal genres. I’ve been an author for almost thirty years and got my start on an old typewriter at the age of five and wrote my first novel at fourteen. Starting with the mystery genre, then fantasy, I wanted to expand my writing horizons and found erotica an intriguing subject. Probably the world’s biggest bibliophile I own three-hundred plus books. I’m an avid RPG gamer. My other favorite thing to do is work in my garden (when weather permits) and am an amateur chef. Feel free to contact me to discuss writing anytime! |

The Second Oldest Profession | by Paul Dyer Nov. 28, 2011 | 16667 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I graduated with a master’s degree in English and Critical Theory from Pepperdine University, Malibu, where I also worked for several years as a Humanities Discussion Leader and a Writing Center Tutor. Then, while pursuing my writing, I worked at a video store that specialized in out-of-print, hard-to-find, art house, and adult films. I’ve even worked for the Catholic church, but that’s another novel. I like genre fiction, but even here I tend to interject social commentary and critique. I once quipped to a friend that the best novel for me would be a series of Platonic dialogs (relating to contemporary social issues), liberally interspersed with subversive pornography. Without loss of character and story. I’m still fumbling my way toward this literary ideal. |

Baja Clavius | by Madeira Desouza Feb. 07, 2012 | 20849 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I was born in the United States into a Portuguese-American culture dominated by the Roman Catholic Church. That culture showed no room for anything but macho and tough males, who were expected to produce babies after getting married to a subservient woman. In that culture, the more tough a man looked and acted, and the higher the number of offspring he generated earned him a higher perceived masculinity. Growing up in that culture ensured my social programming was to think that I was straight. Eventually, I discovered the truth that I am gay and then I had to redefine and remake myself. My formal university education was in journalism, which taught me the art and craft of storytelling, photography, news reporting, etc. In the professional context, I learned that telling a story is an essential ingredient if one wants to connect with an audience. I am unlike many gay authors. I tell stories and create illustrations about masculine men involved with one another to provoke the viewer. I have seen all my life how straight people do not like to see masculine men showing affection towards one another. Straight people will accept drag shows and comedies about effeminate gay men. And why not? Those are non-threatening. But, if masculine men are depicted in a story or images showing sexual interest in one another, oh boy, that suddenly becomes very threatening to straight people! Some gay men I have encountered also find it uncomfortable to witness masculine men showing sexual interest in one another. Gays relegate such masculine men to the pejorative category of being “too butch.†For all of these reasons, I choose to provoke the viewer in my stories and illustrations. Check out this URL where I have one page that provides an insider's tour of my time travel trilogy to help readers have a richer experience: http://mondomacho.com/men/stories/dare-not-ask-the-dead/author-comments/ |

The Storyteller | by Blaine D. Arden Feb. 15, 2012 | 3952 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Blaine is a purple haired, forty-something, writer of gay fiction with a love of men, music, mystery, magic, fairies (the pointy eared ones), platform shoes and the colours black, purple and red, who sings her way through life. Born and raised in Zutphen, the Netherlands, Blaine spent many hours of her sheltered youth reading, day dreaming, making up stories and acting them out with her barbies. Though she wrote her first gay fiction as a teenager, Blaine's true inspiration comes from the wonderful gay romance called 'Beautiful Thing' — adaptation of the play by Jonathan Harvey — through which she gained some very dear gay friends and a postponed bout of puberty that caused an introverted and shy Blaine to finally grow into herself. Supporting Blaine in all matters regarding household, teenagers, cairn terrier Kendra and pursuing her dreams, is her long-suffering husband for over twenty years. When not writing, reading or at choir practice, Blaine has singing lessons and hopes to be in a band someday. |

The Morning Walk | by Rae Smith Feb. 20, 2012 | 3235 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Sitting down to write this a bio freaks me out a little bit. It's like standing up in public and having to speak, and you look around the room, open your mouth to speak and all that comes out is a scratchy squeak. That’s me. I’m shy. Always have been and most likely always will be. But, anyway, here goes. I am in my forties, and I live in England with my wonderful husband, my three amazingly brilliant children, and my beloved laptop. No pets. I've been making up stories almost since I learned how to talk. When I was little, my family used to call them my ‘tall tales’ but I remained undeterred and carried on telling them, eventually writing them down when I discovered pretty notebooks and pens. I love writing. I have always enjoyed sharing my imagination with other people. And if I go long periods without writing, I get a little testy, according to my family. I started out posting my stories for free on the internet – mainly LiveJournal, but then, through the encouragement of some of my readers I decided to pursue the idea of getting published via the eBook route. My readers are some of the most loving, loyal, and awesome people. They’ve stood by me through all my doubts and worries, and kept me on track when the panic sets in. If it wasn’t for them, I’d still be dealing with an inert sense of inferiority, and be plagued with self-doubt. I like to write in a wide variety of genres and cover a host of subjects, but my heart will always be with erotic romance. There's something magical about two people (be they gay, straight, or in-between) finding each other and fighting against all odds to reach happily ever after. If my characters and their stories can touch just one other person--can take his mind off his troubles or make her day seem just a little bit brighter--then I feel like I've done something important. |
