I format my tables of contents identically, and some (Vols. 1, 2, 4, 5, and just recently volume 3) made it through the process with the table of contents intact, and some just don't, and there is really no reason or sense or pattern to it. All the tables of contents are formatted identically, and precisely in accordance with the Smashwords style guide requirements, and sometimes the conversion program lets them passed through unscathed but usually screws them up. I had this problem for a long while with volume 3, but it appears that my latest submission of the manscript made it through the process without the conversion program screwing up the table of contents. It's really just a matter of dumb luck, as far as I can tell. The volume 3 table of contents seems fully functional in the e-pub version I've downloaded. For volumes 6 and 7: the conversion program, for some unknown reason, decides to place each chapter entry in the manuscript table of contents on its own page. The conversion program also makes the sidebar table of contents go to the manuscript table of contents line for that chapter, rather than the appropriate spot in the book. However, you can use the manuscript table of contents to go to the appropriate places in the book, it's just that each chapter entry in the table of contents will be on its own page. About all I can do is send in new manuscripts frequently and hope that one time the manuscripts for volumes 6 and 7 will get through the conversion program with the table of contents intact. I'd just ask for your patience. The problem is entirely out of my control, and is located somewhere in the Smashwords conversion process. But I'll keep trying to get the last manuscripts through with the table of contents still working at the other end. If you purchase a copy of volumes 6 or 7 the table of contents will have at least partial functionality (again, use the one in the manuscript rather than the sidebar) and as a manuscript finally makes it through the conversion process intact, as a purchaser of the book you will be able to download the latest version with the working table of contents. Again, thank you for your patience, and your interest in the story series.

Geonn Cannon was born in a barn and raised to know better than that. He was born and raised in Oklahoma where he’s been enslaved by a series of cats, dogs, two birds and one unexpected turtle. He’s spent his entire life creating stories but only became serious about it when he realized it was a talent that could impress girls. Learning to write well was easier than learning to juggle, so a career was underway. His high school years were spent writing stories among a small group of friends and reading whatever books he could get his hands on. Geonn was inspired to create the fictional Squire’s Isle after a 2004 trip to San Juan Island in Washington State. His first novel set on the island, On the Air, was written almost as a side project to another story he wanted to tell. Reception to the story was so strong that the original story was put on the back burner to deal with the world created in On the Air. She has a series of juvenile novels published (four) and an adult mystery series (two). Her work has appeared in several anthologies. Her juvenile novels have been nominated for awards as well. I was born in the United States into a Portuguese-American culture dominated by the Roman Catholic Church. That culture showed no room for anything but macho and tough males, who were expected to produce babies after getting married to a subservient woman. In that culture, the more tough a man looked and acted, and the higher the number of offspring he generated earned him a higher perceived masculinity. Growing up in that culture ensured my social programming was to think that I was straight. Eventually, I discovered the truth that I am gay and then I had to redefine and remake myself. My formal university education was in journalism, which taught me the art and craft of storytelling, photography, news reporting, etc. In the professional context, I learned that telling a story is an essential ingredient if one wants to connect with an audience. I am unlike many gay authors. I tell stories and create illustrations about masculine men involved with one another to provoke the viewer. I have seen all my life how straight people do not like to see masculine men showing affection towards one another. Straight people will accept drag shows and comedies about effeminate gay men. And why not? Those are non-threatening. But, if masculine men are depicted in a story or images showing sexual interest in one another, oh boy, that suddenly becomes very threatening to straight people! Some gay men I have encountered also find it uncomfortable to witness masculine men showing sexual interest in one another. Gays relegate such masculine men to the pejorative category of being “too butch.” For all of these reasons, I choose to provoke the viewer in my stories and illustrations. Tell you about me? Hmm, well there's not much to say. I love hockey and cars and my kids…not in that order of course! Lol! When I'm not writing—which isn't often—I'm usually watching a game or a car show while working on promo. Going out with my kids is my only down time. I get to clear my head and forget everything. As for when and why I first started writing, I guess I thought I'd get extra cookies if I was quiet for awhile—that's how young I was. I used to bring my grandmother barely legible pages filled with tales of evil unicorns. She told me then that I would be a famous author. I hope one day to prove her right. My work tends to lean towards the dark side. My most popular book, Deadly Captive, tends to trigger extreme reactions in people and I often advise that if you're going to read my work, start with one of my other books and ease your way up to that…if you think you can deal with the subject matter.
