Fellatio | by Ernest Winchester March 07, 2011 | 779 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I must in all honesty, update this entry, for I stumbled onto the magic key to post a story on Smashwords. It was operator error not one of the poltergeist that I’m sure came preloaded in my computer that prevents me from getting what I want from it. For those of you who didn’t read this bio before—which I’m sure includes the rest of the world’s population—I repeat: I am an old man who loves to write. I started decades ago—the exact number is irrelevant—on a cast iron framed manual typewriter that would now serve little purpose beyond a boat anchor. I love composing fiction on the computer, mainly because of the spell check feature. Why someone who can’t spell worth a damn wants to write, I’ll never be able to explain. I take solace in the knowledge that some well-known writers throughout history were so afflicted. However, I must confess, that is about as far as I can go into this—to me—frightening world of cyberspace. I don’t have accounts on face book (wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot pole. Almost nightly the news is filled with stories of people murdered by people they have contacted there.) I feel the same way about Myspace, a blog or personal web site. I don’t tweet or twit or what ever that is. That really seems silly--just call them and talk! So I’ll be contented to write and enjoy retirement until the final heartbeat or wayward city buss runs me over. |

| Author bio: A.H. Scott resides in the Northeastern United States. She's a new voice and vision of fiction and poetry. I have been writing short stories and poetry ever since childhood. But, now I'm dipping my toe into the pond of publishing. As an author, I enjoy letting my characters and plots that I've created get inside of the reader's heads. I make a promise to anyone that rolls the dice and catches a glimpse of my work that you will never be bored. Your eyes, mind and soul shall be thrilled. This is my bond to you, the reader. Chick Magnet | by Kurt Ulmer March 11, 2012 | 1583 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I have one grandfather who was a builder. My other grandfather was a stonemason and my father was a traditional blacksmith. Both my grandmothers had cooked for a living, one in a hotel and the other for well-to-do people. A career in construction or perhaps engineering or catering would have been obvious choices. Instead, I spent 20 years in business and in mid life retrained myself. I chose to work with my hands as my father and grandparents had. I become a renowned woodcraftsman and founded with my wife an art and craft gallery in a Tasmanian tourist town. After 20 years there, we followed our children to mainland Australia to retire on Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula. I took up writing seriously in 2003. Working with their hands, creating and shaping materials has occupied my forebear. From stone, to iron, to wood. Now I spend my time putting pen to paper. The medium is getting softer. |

Does This Unlace? | by CD Hussey Jan. 07, 2012 | 1765 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: CD Hussey has been writing for as long as words came from the end of her pencil instead of just scribbles. In her grandmother's basement, CD and her sisters would spend hours writing romance stories and having Barbie and her friends act them out. She wrote her first full length novel at 12, rewrote it at 16, rewrote it again at 25, and then put it on the shelf and started a new series. When not writing, CD Hussey enjoys a career as a professional engineer in the Midwest. A chronic hobbyist, CD's interests range from mountain biking to belly dancing, and include everything in between. Currently, CD's obsession is aerial silks, but past obsessions have included fire poi and hula hoop. CD calls these the "burning man" hobbies, and hopes to infuse her writing with some of the fun and unique creativity found in the desert festival. La Luxure is the first released book in a series of separate but related Romantica "light" novels set within the Human Vampire community in New Orleans. Besides exploring the world of Human Vampires, CD also enjoys writing fantasy romance. Favorite authors include JR Ward, Terry Brooks, and David Eddings. |

The Girl From The Coffee Shop | by Nicky Faulkes May 05, 2012 | 1850 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: The radio dial casts an exotic, otherworldly glow over the room as the Country Music Hour comes to an end. It's late and the seductive sound of rock and roll sneaks in the small town through his bedroom. The music and the warm, humid air hold a promise of intimacy and sensuality. Nick lies in bed and breathes it in, soaking up the atmosphere of the southern night. He mind is filled with dreams of leaving this small town and these small minds behind. He imagines himself on stage with a guitar in hand, singing and playing for the girls who've come to dance. His head is filled with the tales of wild women and dashing heroes his father and grandfather have told him. His ears are filled with a mix of the primal beat of rock and roll. The windows desperately seek a cool breeze in the summer night. What comes through them instead is the sound of a couple making love. The sighs and moans of lovers and the steady rhythms and plaintive wails of music mix in the darkness. As the intensity builds, a scream of pleasure and cry of release from ring out. All that's left are the fantasies of a young man and the pulsing beat of the music to fill his dreams as his eyes close and sleep overtakes him. *** Years later, the stories he tells come from a life of hedonistic pursuits and the driving beat of the music he's played. Memories and fantasies blend on the page before him. Now, the stories in his head are his own. He writes about women he's known and loved in his series, "My Girls". Stories like the award-winning "The Time of My Life" and others beg to be shared. Pictures of old friends and awards hang on the walls, the glass in the frames reflects the glow of the computer screen. Guitars stand sentry, ready to accompany him as the morning sun invades his home. Another night has passed and another day is coming. It's time to get some sleep but his memories, fantasies and music still ring in his ears as he lies back to drift away. |
