| A For Effort | by Francis Porretto Oct. 28, 2011 | 4832 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Francis W. Porretto was born in 1952. Things went steadily downhill from there. Fran is an engineer and fictioneer who lives on the east end of Long Island, New York. He's short, bald, homely, has bad acne and crooked teeth. His neighbors hold him personally responsible for the decline in local property values. His life is graced by one wife, two stepdaughters, three dogs, five cats, too many power tools to list, and an old ranch house furnished in Early Mesozoic style. His 12,000 volume (and growing) personal library is considered a major threat to the stability of the North American tectonic plate. Publishing industry professionals describe Fran's novels as "Unpublishable. Horrible, but unpublishable all the same." (They don't think much of his short stories, either.) He's thought of trying bribery, but isn't sure he can afford the $3.95. Time was, all Fran's fictions WERE free to whoever might care to read them. Back then, he wanted readers more than revenue. However, that has changed, along with certain other of his circumstances, so he now asks what he hopes you'll consider a modest price for his novels and stories. (The novelette "Farm Girl" is still free. A loss leader, if you will.) | Author bio: I must in all honesty, update this entry, for I stumbled onto the magic key to post a story on Smashwords. It was operator error not one of the poltergeist that I’m sure came preloaded in my computer that prevents me from getting what I want from it. For those of you who didn’t read this bio before—which I’m sure includes the rest of the world’s population—I repeat: I am an old man who loves to write. I started decades ago—the exact number is irrelevant—on a cast iron framed manual typewriter that would now serve little purpose beyond a boat anchor. I love composing fiction on the computer, mainly because of the spell check feature. Why someone who can’t spell worth a damn wants to write, I’ll never be able to explain. I take solace in the knowledge that some well-known writers throughout history were so afflicted. However, I must confess, that is about as far as I can go into this—to me—frightening world of cyberspace. I don’t have accounts on face book (wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot pole. Almost nightly the news is filled with stories of people murdered by people they have contacted there.) I feel the same way about Myspace, a blog or personal web site. I don’t tweet or twit or what ever that is. That really seems silly--just call them and talk! So I’ll be contented to write and enjoy retirement until the final heartbeat or wayward city buss runs me over. |

| Briefs (A Collection of Short Stories) | by Rushmore Judd Aug. 25, 2011 | 17691 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Rushmore Judd began writing erotic stories in the early 1990's. When the internet arrived, he finally found an outlet for his stories and what was a hobby became an avocation. Publishing on a few websites he developed a loyal following that encouraged him. His writing is straight forward in its descriptions without a heavy reliance on euphemisms. Frequently someone in the story is pushing a boundary, exploring new experiences or crossing a forbidden line. It is the struggle between conscience and lust that characterizes many of his stories. Others have accused him of being a woman who only pretends to be a man because of his intimate understanding of the way a woman reacts and thinks. He prefers to think of himself as a lesbian trapped in a man’s body. Some have suggested that his readings become required reading for young men and teens. His stories project a positive view of sex and seduction. In 2010 he started his own website (www.rushmorejudd.com) and in April of 2011 he published his first story on Smashwords.com. Rushmore has had a successful career as a business consultant and in that capacity he has traveled the world, living in Europe for a time. I am addicted to my e-reader and it goes with me everywhere. Sitting at a stoplight? Read a few pages. Taking a break at work? Read a few pages. Have time for a lunch? | Does This Unlace? | by CD Hussey Jan. 07, 2012 | 1765 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: CD Hussey has been writing for as long as words came from the end of her pencil instead of just scribbles. In her grandmother's basement, CD and her sisters would spend hours writing romance stories and having Barbie and her friends act them out. She wrote her first full length novel at 12, rewrote it at 16, rewrote it again at 25, and then put it on the shelf and started a new series. When not writing, CD Hussey enjoys a career as a professional engineer in the Midwest. A chronic hobbyist, CD's interests range from mountain biking to belly dancing, and include everything in between. Currently, CD's obsession is aerial silks, but past obsessions have included fire poi and hula hoop. CD calls these the "burning man" hobbies, and hopes to infuse her writing with some of the fun and unique creativity found in the desert festival. La Luxure is the first released book in a series of separate but related Romantica "light" novels set within the Human Vampire community in New Orleans. Besides exploring the world of Human Vampires, CD also enjoys writing fantasy romance. Favorite authors include JR Ward, Terry Brooks, and David Eddings. |

| Author bio: Luiz Penze was born in 1985, in Brazil, with pencil-in-hand. His passion for drawing came at a very early age, being influenced by the illustrative style and cartoon work of Japanese TV, and later by the notable Brazilian Painter Romero Britto and Campana Brothers. Luiz studied classic painting for 8 years at Entrearts Painting School in Brazil and 1 year of professional photography. Luiz’s early work in Dourados (Brazil) included freelance illustration and commissioned portraits. Luiz moved to Porto (Portugal) in 2005 to study Design at Belas Artes University. Following his study in Portugal, Luiz decided to move to London where the designers market was much more advanced and presented more opportunities. In 2008 Luiz was awarded the first prize for his “Save the World campaign†as part of the South Bank University’s Sustainability Posters Design Competition 2008. He has recently completed (2011) a BSc (Hons) in Product Design at London South Bank University. Luiz has continued painting, holding a number of private commissions for his artwork and photography. His ability to work with several mediums, including digital, has allowed Luiz to share his work with a much larger audience. Now with a presence on the internet, Luiz’s work is available world-wide. Although he will tell you that the computer will never replace the feeling of brush on canvas or pen on paper, Luiz’s ability to use both traditional and digital tools has opened further windows of opportunity for him. |

But, now I'm dipping my toe into the pond of publishing. As an author, I enjoy letting my characters and plots that I've created get inside of the reader's heads. I make a promise to anyone that rolls the dice and catches a glimpse of my work that you will never be bored. Your eyes, mind and soul shall be thrilled. This is my bond to you, the reader. No simplicity ever from A.H. Scott. Always complexity is my main intent on anyone who reads my work. “I want the reader to be affected in two ways – above the neck & below the beltâ€. – A.H. Scott ----------- "I don't write for children. I write for adults". - A.H. Scott ------ "I believe art should be as enigmatic as the artist who creates it." A. H. Scott ------ "Silence is acceptance. Acceptance is conquest. Conquest is a rainbow obscured by a black cloud of contempt". - A.H. Scott ------------- "MY WORDS ARE MY CALLING CARD". - A.H. Scott 8/2/11 |

(With apologies to Disney for butchering the words to The Ballad of Davey Crockett) As old as my tongue and a little bit older than my teeth. Old as dirt and twice as nasty. |

| I Burn For You: an Erotic Short Story | by Mercy Loomis Oct. 31, 2011 | 3760 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Mercy Loomis grew up in a haunted house, and has had quite enough of ghosts for one lifetime, thank you. Though she now lives in a 150-year-old house, it is remarkably ghost-free. (That, or they’re staying on the down-low. She doesn’t care which.) Mercy finished writing her first vampire novel when she was in middle school, and hasn’t stopped writing about them since. She loves stories about the paranormal because monsters are scary, but less scary than real people. Or at least less depressing. Mercy graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison one class short of an accidental certificate in Folklore. She credits her love of mythology to her mom reading Greek myths as bedtime stories, and her love of fantastical adventure stories to watching cheesy movies with her dad. Her love of history (and coffee!) is completely her husband’s fault, but she doesn’t know who’s to blame for the fascination with physics. She guesses that hanging out with Dad while he butchered deer also had an effect on her character, but exactly what effect, she leaves up to the reader. See what Mercy’s up to and find links to her other work at www.mercyloomis.com. |

| Author bio: I love romance and I love good sex. It is a healthy combination in real life, which is why I started writing. I wanted stories that touched on the ups and downs of lovers and the unique sexual experiences that make life a ton more fun. * The Sensual Erotica series are stand-alone scenarios made to excite and titillate, but all are interconnected. I hope you will enjoy the palate of sensual experiences contained in the series. Pick and choose the ones that speak to you, or be a little naughty and sneak a peek at one you've always been curious about. I lovingly call the series "The sexual adventures of T&A." Follow the lives of Troy & Amy as they make their way in the world and hopefully back into each other's arms. The short stories are written from either Troy's or Amy's point of view, so you get both sides. * The Keeper of the Wolf Clan is a novelette about a werewolf clan who practices the Bonding Ritual every full moon. Sexy...and taboo. Layla had a story to be told and she chose me to tell it. Enjoy! * In 9 Days - This sweet novelette is a coming of age story that centers on loving acceptance. Tessa finds Kevin Reese alluring despite the burns covering his body. She is willing to defy friends and family in order to love him.
