| Author bio: A simple woman with a less than simple life, and a mind that sometimes runs away with me. Sometimes, when its quiet, and God knows its very rarely quiet where I live, dreams and words meet in my head and flow out of my fingertips. They aren't always graceful, they aren't always eloquent, but when it works... I find that it works well... as ever I can but aspire to be more than what I am, even if it is only in my head. |

I lovingly call the series "The Sexual Adventures of T&A." Follow the lives of Troy & Amy as they make their way in the world and hopefully back into each other's arms. Annatheia's Coup d'état (Fairy Intervention) a short story | by JRR Brockett Oct. 14, 2011 | 4490 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Complete rewrite of 'Dragons Son' book 1 'The Boy Scout' uploaded and published 3/30/12 Excerpt Palace guards open the way into hell and fan out in all directions; searching, searching for what, survivors, there aren’t going to be any…an enemy; too late, the merciless perpetrators that ravaged here are gone. What once was conservative elegance and quite conversation now lies smashed and ruined with ugly columns of evil smelling dirty smoke rising form blackened piles of what remains of people and their artifacts. Atthea and OrinRex enter the reception hall; the devastation they encounter is horrifying. Ghosts of elegant tapestries hung limp and smoldering from the once gleaming mahogany now charred and split paneled walls. Among the heaps of shattered furnishings are mutilated naked bodies in pools of spilled blackened blood cracked and parched on the ruined marble floor like the surface of a sun scorched mud flat. The men and boys have been tortured and the women and girls assaulted and left grotesquely splayed around the room. Their bones have been brutally broken and their skin branded and lashed and sliced with knives; the stench of burning flesh and hair fouls their nostrils bringing molten bile to their mouths causing them to double over retching. Excerpt "Rage and hate and black in a terrifying raptors stoop and we were its end; its quarry. Her arms around my waist she banked violently right then jerked straight up with such power and velocity that the blood drained from my head and I almost lost consciousness. Intense searing fire and pain exploded crimson in my mind as the tip on one acid predatory talon ripped the flesh on the back of my hand." Excerpt: “It’s not just underwear Kirk. It’s a kind of armor. It weighs nothing and will keep you cool or warm as you need. All fighters wear it, see.†Roannee pulled up her shirt exposing her belly button and the under side of her breasts. “I always wear mine.†Kirks eyes opened wide and his mouth dropped open in surprise. “Put your shirt down. Please.†Kirk begged not really meaning it. Still holding her shirt up and taking a coquettish pose. “Well silly boy. What do you think...hummmmm?†Kirk looked into her eyes and there was no shame or self consciousness there and all he could manage was a hushed… “Beautiful.†|

Another Evening in Stacy's Dorm Room | by Ernest Winchester March 13, 2011 | 1823 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I must in all honesty, update this entry, for I stumbled onto the magic key to post a story on Smashwords. It was operator error not one of the poltergeist that I’m sure came preloaded in my computer that prevents me from getting what I want from it. For those of you who didn’t read this bio before—which I’m sure includes the rest of the world’s population—I repeat: I am an old man who loves to write. I started decades ago—the exact number is irrelevant—on a cast iron framed manual typewriter that would now serve little purpose beyond a boat anchor. I love composing fiction on the computer, mainly because of the spell check feature. Why someone who can’t spell worth a damn wants to write, I’ll never be able to explain. I take solace in the knowledge that some well-known writers throughout history were so afflicted. However, I must confess, that is about as far as I can go into this—to me—frightening world of cyberspace. I don’t have accounts on face book (wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot pole. Almost nightly the news is filled with stories of people murdered by people they have contacted there.) I feel the same way about Myspace, a blog or personal web site. I don’t tweet or twit or what ever that is. That really seems silly--just call them and talk! So I’ll be contented to write and enjoy retirement until the final heartbeat or wayward city buss runs me over. |

Arrested by the Cableman | by Tom Raimbault June 23, 2011 | 6296 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Tom Raimbault resides in the Chicago land area with his wife and two daughters. When not writing, he works as a lab technician at a telecommunications company and is self-described on his resume as a “technology professional†who has worked with cellular & IP infrastructure, biomedical equipment, emergency two-way radios and computer hardware. Tom began to produce weird writings back in 2000 while working the graveyard shift. The nightly edits were emailed to a small collection of coworkers who looked forward to something unusual to keep them awake or humored. This practice was ended when he was moved to a different shift. Sadly, his enjoyment of writing was forgotten for several years, until the autumn of 2007, when old friends received a “blast from the past†email with the recognizable words, “Hello Allâ€. The strange writings and short stories had resumed and a personal website was soon to follow. In autumn of 2009, Tom published his first book, Freaked out Horror (a collection of short stories). The work has been temporarily unpublished and will be re-released in 2011 with many additions, revisions and improvements. Check out his website that includes the blog at: http://sites.google.com/site/tomraimbaultwritings/ Tom is always open to new friends on Facebook where he shares photos from his nature hikes, family vacations and any random thoughts throughout the day. Baja Clavius | by Madeira Desouza Feb. 07, 2012 | 20849 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I was born in the United States into a Portuguese-American culture dominated by the Roman Catholic Church. That culture showed no room for anything but macho and tough males, who were expected to produce babies after getting married to a subservient woman. In that culture, the more tough a man looked and acted, and the higher the number of offspring he generated earned him a higher perceived masculinity. Growing up in that culture ensured my social programming was to think that I was straight. Eventually, I discovered the truth that I am gay and then I had to redefine and remake myself. My formal university education was in journalism, which taught me the art and craft of storytelling, photography, news reporting, etc. In the professional context, I learned that telling a story is an essential ingredient if one wants to connect with an audience. I am unlike many gay authors. I tell stories and create illustrations about masculine men involved with one another to provoke the viewer. I have seen all my life how straight people do not like to see masculine men showing affection towards one another. Straight people will accept drag shows and comedies about effeminate gay men. And why not? Those are non-threatening. But, if masculine men are depicted in a story or images showing sexual interest in one another, oh boy, that suddenly becomes very threatening to straight people! Some gay men I have encountered also find it uncomfortable to witness masculine men showing sexual interest in one another. Gays relegate such masculine men to the pejorative category of being “too butch.†For all of these reasons, I choose to provoke the viewer in my stories and illustrations. Check out this URL where I have one page that provides an insider's tour of my time travel trilogy to help readers have a richer experience: http://mondomacho.com/men/stories/dare-not-ask-the-dead/author-comments/ |

Banned In Boston | by Ann Domela Dec. 30, 2011 | 102006 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I as born Ann Ritchie (now Domela)in the beautiful city of Boston with the strong desire to become an author, to see my name in print and the dream to have long lines of people waiting for my autograph. Like all too many, the dream stayed in the fantasy category until my six children were grown and I was officially retired from the work place. There had already been many successful attempts to get published in magazines in newspapers. And even one event where a long line of people stood in line for my autograph for a newspaper article. But a book? a few friends encouraged her to "just go for it". She did. First was Triangle of Fear. It started as a contemporary book, but the main character forced her to take it back to the end of the Civil War. then Fall of Fear, Banned in Boston and If Only. Currently on Smashwords is the latest, What If. I am currently working on a sequel to Banned as well as book on the Civil War. I am also traveling all over the United States offering free lectures to assist others who have the same dream. For more info or comments please send me an email at rvrs7081@gmail.com. |
